The Chinese market for secondhand light vehicle rebounded for a third consecutive month in April, helped by favorable comparisons to the year-earlier period when draconian pandemic controls disrupted demand and sales.
In April, used light-vehicle deliveries expanded 33 percent to 1.17 million, according to a tally released by the China Automobile Dealers Association.
Sales of used multi-purpose vehicles surged 41 percent to around 89,600, while deliveries of secondhand sedans jumped 33 percent to some 866,400 last month.
Demand for used crossovers and SUVs jumped 32 percent to about 187,800, while sales of secondhand minibuses rose 8.9 percent to roughly 28,000.
In the first four months, sales of used light vehicles in China gained 16 percent from a year earlier to some 4.62 million.
Despite the rebound, the raging price war in the new-vehicle market has spilled over into the used-vehicle market, the CADA noted.
In April, the average transaction price of used light vehicles stood at 61,700 yuan ($8,814), a drop of 2.5 percent from the previous month, the trade group said.
