BEIJING -- Toyota Motor Corp. said on Wednesday its light-vehicle sales in China fell 70 percent in February because of the deadly coronavirus epidemic.
Toyota, which is the first major global automaker to report February results in the world’s biggest market, said it sold 23,800 Toyota and Lexus cars.
According to the China Passenger Car Association, China's overall passenger car sales dropped 89 percent in the first 23 days of February.
Toyota was among the few global automakers to post an increase in China sales last year, as slowing economic growth and trade woes undermined overall industry demand for the second year in a row.
