Renault Group plans to roll out five China-built vans through 2023 with local partner Brilliance China Automotive, aiming to tap the market for light commercial vehicles.
The new products include small, medium and large vans, and some of them will be electrified, the French automaker said.
The first van model will arrive under Brilliance China’s Jinbei brand this year, it added, without divulging additional details about the vehicle.
Renault established the light commercial vehicle joint venture with Brilliance China in the northeast China city of Shenyang in late 2017.
In June, the partnership opened an R&D center to introduce Renault’s technologies across its product lineup.
In April, Renault said it would exit the passenger vehicle joint venture formed with Dongfeng Motor Group in 2013 to focus on developing and producing light commercial vehicles and EVs in China.
Renault has also incorporated EV joint ventures with Dongfeng and Jiangxi Jiangling Group Electric Vehicle over the past two years. The French automaker hasn’t revealed product plans for the two partnerships.
