Lexus maintained sales growth of more than 20 percent in China for the third straight year in 2019 on strong demand for hybrid models.
The luxury brand of Toyota Motor Corp. delivered 200,521 vehicles in China last year, a jump of 25 percent from 2018, the brand’s China office said.
Leading the growth were the brand’s hybrids, with sales surging 39 percent to 69,027.
The brand’s China sales advanced 22 percent in 2017 and 21 percent in 2018.
Lexus was the fifth-largest luxury brand in China in 2018, following Audi, Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Cadillac.
It is the second luxury brand to disclose annual China sales for 2019
FAW-Volkswagen, Volkswagen Group’s joint venture with China FAW Group Corp., last week said Audi’s sales in China rose 4.2 percent to 688,888 in 2019.
