GM's Ultium EV models to gain access to some Tesla charging stations

Owners of Cadillac and Buick electric vehicles powered by GM's Ultium batteries will be able to recharge at some of the charging stations Tesla operates in China, starting at the end of this year, General Motors’ joint venture with SAIC Motor Corp. said.

The facilities include ten supercharging stations and more than 200 destination charging stations Tesla now operates in China, servicing other brands' EVs in addition to its own, according to SAIC-GM.

Ultium EV owners will be able to access more of Tesla’s charging facilities as Tesla further opens its charging service network to EVs from other companies, the joint venture noted this month. 

Since last year, SAIC-GM, which builds and markets Cadillac, Buick and Chevrolet cars and light trucks, has launched sales of three Ultium EV models: the Cadillac Lyric crossover, and the Buick Electra E4 and E5 crossovers.

SAIC-GM said it has established 52 charging stations across China.

GM plans to increase the number of Ultium EV models available in China to ten by 2025, according to the Detroit automaker’s China unit.
