Geely’s smart EV brand Zeekr begins pre-sales in Germany

Zeekr, a smart electric-vehicle brand owned by Geely Automobile Holdings, kicked off pre-sales of two models in Germany at the Munich auto show this week.

The two models, the 001 sporty sedan and X crossover, debut in the German market with a starting price of 59,990 euros ($64,190) and 44,990 euros, respectively, Zeekr said.

It is set to open the first direct sales outlet in Germany to deliver the models to customers sometime in the first half of 2024, the brand added. 

Germany is the third European country where the two Zeekr models will be marketed and sold. 

In June, Zeekr launched pre-sales of the 001 and X in Sweden and the Netherlands, with delivery slated to begin before the end of this year.

Following Sweden, the Netherlands and Germany, it plans to enter five other European countries by the end of 2024 to make Europe its second “home market” after China, the brand said. 

Zeekr, created in 2021, has rolled off three products, which are all assembled at Geely’s production site in the east China port city of Ningbo. 

A third product, the 009 multi-purpose vehicle, went on sale in China in November. 

Zeekr has primarily sold vehicles in China only.The brand's deliveries spiked 72 percent year on year to 12,303 in August, with year-to-date volume soaring 115 percent to 66,975, according to Geely’s filings on the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong.
