Mercedes to show AI-powered assistant at CES 2024

Mercedes-Benz will reveal a number of digital innovations at CES in Las Vegas, including the MBUX Virtual Assistant, which the automaker says uses AI to provide a more human-like interaction with the car.

At the same time, Mercedes will give the Concept CLA, an electric four-door coupe-style sedan with more than 750 km (466 miles) of range, its North American debut.

The concept vehicle will be a preview of the new entry-level Mercedes vehicles, including full-electric variants. The automaker is consolidating its compact-size A- and B-Class vehicles from seven model lines to four, as it focuses more on higher-margin sales.

Mercedes says the Virtual Assistant takes the “Hey Mercedes” voice feature “into a whole new visual dimension” using high-resolution game-engine graphics from Unity Technologies.

Unity, which is based in San Francisco, is collaborating with Mercedes to power the infotainment domain of the new MB.OS operating system. The first cars using the MB.OS and Unity system are set to appear in 2024.

Also at CES, Mercedes will show a camouflaged version of the full-electric G-Class SUV and will announce a partnership in the field of in-car entertainment, the automaker said.
