Over the years Gary Shapiro has become the face and voice of CES, the annual electronics show that's slated to open this week in Las Vegas.
Shapiro is CEO of the show's organizer, the Consumer Technology Association. He's also a bestselling author whose passion is promoting innovation as the way to keep the American dream alive.
"To my dying day I'm going to keep fighting to make sure we do it," Shapiro told Automotive News. "I wake up every day and my job is to make sure innovation can occur in this country."
In an interview recorded in December, Shapiro, 65, discussed CES, automotive technology and other topics on "Shift: A Podcast About Mobility," hosted by Senior Reporter Pete Bigelow and News Editor Leslie J. Allen.
