Airstream partnered with Studio F.A. Porsche to create its first "garageable" camper-trailer, a concept designed to make ownership and operation easier for a broader range of customers, including electric vehicle fans. An automatic suspension, a first for Airstream, in the chassis allows the trailer's body to be lowered, enabling storage in most home garages or smaller structures.
The concept features advances in design and aerodynamics popularized by many SUVs, including a rear shape that sheds air while the trailer is moving and a flush underside to minimize drag. Components that include carbon fiber reduce weight, making it more suitable for towing by smaller internal combustion engine vehicles and EVs, Airstream and Studio F.A. Porsche say.
The rear features a hinge-up hatch and a drop-down tailgate.
