Ahead of revealing the fourth-generation Pilot this fall, Honda has dropped teaser photos that signal a more capable kid hauler with the TrailSport variant in the spotlight. A more robust profile and stature illustrate that off-roading aspirations will play a much larger role in its marketing.
The 2023 Pilot ditches the midsize crossover's jelly bean silhouette in favor of a boxier profile more aligned with the five-seat Passport midsize crossover and Ridgeline midsize pickup. The latest Pilot also has the same upright grille found across Honda's light-truck lineup.
Honda introduced the TrailSport, aimed at buyers who want equal parts commute and adventure, for the 2022 model year. More than just an appearance package, the TrailSport comes only in all-wheel drive with different drive capabilities and off-road suspension. It is also equipped with standard all-terrain tires and steel skid plates.
