Lexus EV concepts to make North American debut at Monterey Car Week

Two high-tech Lexus concept vehicles that took a starring role at last fall's Japan Mobility Show in Tokyo will make their North American debut Aug. 15 at Monterey Car Week on the California coast to help mark the luxury brand's 35th anniversary in the U.S.

The Lexus LF-ZC and LF-ZL concepts preview next-generation Lexus electric vehicles on an all-new platform, which are set to debut within the next few years, brand leaders in Japan said in October 2023 when the vehicles debuted at the Japan Mobility Show. The LF-ZC, or Lexus Future Zero-emission Catalyst, is a sporty, wedged-shaped four-door with a fastback rear and a pointed nose.

The LF-ZL, or Lexus Zero-emission Luxury is a low-slung four-seater that features what Lexus calls "Interactive Reality in Motion" technology that enables drivers to interact with the world passing by through gestures and natural conversation. It allows vehicle occupants to point out the window and have a Lexus digital assistant, such as Amazon Alexa, answer their questions about what they see.

The two concept vehicles will be displayed at Monterey Car Week alongside a 1990 Lexus LS400, which helped launch the brand in the U.S., Lexus said.
