Two prominent purveyors of luxury electric vehicles are forming a partnership expected to bear quick results.
Karma Automotive and Italian design and engineering firm Pininfarina said Thursday they'll join forces to accelerate product development. The first unveilings from their collaboration are expected in the second quarter.
"Karma is united in spirit with Pininfarina through our shared commitment to stunning design, and we are excited about the reaction we anticipate the end result of our partnership will generate," said Lance Zhou, CEO of Karma Automotive, a Southern California company spun forth from the remnants of the now-defunct Fisker Automotive luxury brand.
Zhou announced the partnership Thursday during the Automotive News World Congress in Detroit.
For Karma, the partnership comes on the heels of an announcement at CES this month in which the company detailed plans to improve its positions in connectivity, artificial intelligence, electrification and shared mobility.
Karma has created a mobility-experiences division that seeks to use the company's electric Revero sedan in short-term rental fleets that will, at least initially, be stationed at luxury hotels in Southern California.
