LOS ANGELES — Honda's 2022 Passport crossover is the latest model in the brand's light-truck lineup to get a makeover with more rugged styling elements to better draw crossover buyers.
It follows a similar freshen for the Ridgeline pickup this year.
The updated Passport has a more aggressive look from the windshield forward, with a chunkier nose and more upright grille design, along with new front fenders. At the rear, there are now cutouts for larger twin exhaust outlets along with a lower garnish that simulates a skid plate.
There also is a new TrailSport appearance package and an off-road HPD version, Honda said in a statement Wednesday. HPD stands for Honda Performance Development.
"Some may not realize the true rugged, off-road capabilities of our light trucks," said Dave Gardner, executive vice president of national operations for American Honda Motor Co. "Now they're getting tough, rugged looks to match, and the addition of TrailSport will further enhance the off-road capability of our vehicles in the future."
