2026 Honda Passport expected to have more power

Honda's redesigned 2026 Passport TrailSport will have more power when it arrives at dealerships early next year. It will carry a 3.5-liter V-6 engine mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission and use the company's second-generation all-wheel-drive system.

The current Passport has a 280-hp, 3.5-liter V-6 paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission. Torque is rated at 262 pound-feet. Honda added the TrailSport variant to the lineup for 2023; it was updated with a retuned suspension to enable both increased articulation and improved off-road ride quality for 2024.

Honda did not specify output for the new model or confirm whether it's the same powertrain used in the larger, three-row Pilot, which was redesigned for the 2023 model year. The Pilot delivers 285 hp and 262 pound-feet of torque. It's also unclear whether this will be the engine used across the Passport lineup, but Honda did say the 2026 Passport and 2026 Passport TrailSport will go on sale early next year.

The automaker, in releasing images of the camouflaged crossover, said the off-road TrailSport variant of the five-seater has undergone testing on "challenging trails" all over the U.S. including western Michigan, Appalachia and Moab, Utah.

In addition to a more rugged TrailSport, Honda could add a hybrid variant to the Passport.

Honda will introduce the next-generation Passport in November.
