2025 Genesis G80 gets face-lift, revamped interior

Genesis' updated 2025 G80 midsize offers a handful of upscale changes, including a new grille design and a 27-inch OLED screen.

The G80 is Genesis' No. 2-selling sedan behind the entry G70 sport sedan, though overall G80 volume is down this year. Through July, U.S. sales of the sedan slid 32 percent to 2,404. Last year, the G80 achieved sales of 5,499, an increase of 27 percent.

A Genesis spokesperson told Automotive News that the decrease is a result of lower fleet volume. Retail sales of the G80 were up 17 percent, he said.

The freshened G80 follows similar enhancements made to the GV80 midsize crossover, which went on sale this summer. The GV80 Coupe also joined the lineup, helping round out the 80 series — what Genesis considers the embodiment of its "athletic elegance" ethos.

"The 80 series is really the heart of our portfolio," said Ash Corson, Genesis director of product planning. "It's a comprehensive freshening. The sedan is adopting a lot of the changes in the crossover."

That includes new wheel designs on the two entry models and micro lens array technology in the headlamps. Corson said there are 200 micro lenses that provide "precise lighting control" and add to the vehicle's aesthetic at night.

The restyled front fascia includes a new crosshatch grille, larger air intakes and a skid plate design on the front bumper. A new chrome trim runs along the side, muffler tips are hidden in the rear bumper, and braking power is improved with four-piston fixed monobloc front brake calipers. A new color — Vatna Gray — joins the palette.

Inside, the G80 gets a new three-spoke steering wheel and the massive 27-inch screen connecting the digital gauges and infotainment options at the center. The dashboard, center stack and console have all been revised. A new Bang & Olufsen premium audio system is available.

Genesis also offers an electric variant of the G80, called the Electrified G80. Updates to align it with the rest of the 80 series will be announced later in the year.

The entry G80 starts at $58,350 for the 2.5T and tops out at $78,250 for the 3.5T Sport Prestige. All prices include shipping. Deliveries are underway.
