NEXT STAGE: Redesign in 2022
The next-generation 7 Series will be available with four drivetrain variants: gasoline, diesel, plug-in hybrid and full electric, BMW CEO Oliver Zipse said at the automaker's Annual Accounts Press Conference in March 2020.
Production of the 7 Series EV is expected to begin in the second half of 2022 and be launched first in China and Europe, according to AutoForecast Solutions. The flagship EV is expected to arrive stateside about a year later.
The next 7 series is rumored to come with an ultraluxe version that would compete with the Mercedes-Maybach S class.
