When the pandemic erupted last year, Huntington Beach Chrysler-Dodge-Jeep-Ram in Southern California kept pushing full speed ahead.
While dealerships in other areas of the state were forced to close their showrooms to deal with the crisis, Orange County allowed it to stay open. The store had to work with a lighter sales staff, but it was aggressive in acquiring new and used inventory from dealerships that were going out of business and car-rental companies whose prospects suddenly looked bleak.
Continuing to pursue inventory while drawing consumers from counties with tighter showroom restrictions created a whirlwind of opportunities to sell not only cars and trucks but also service contracts that sweeten profits.
The dealership sold more than 4,200 Mopar Vehicle Protection contracts in 2020, more than any other Fiat Chrysler Automobiles store.
