2019 ALL STAR | ENGINEERING INNOVATION
Global technical marketing manager,
Getting the word out about a new advanced technology from an old company with a new name that many are still not entirely sure about — that’s the challenge for Aptiv, the Dublin supplier that until December 2017 was known as Delphi Automotive.
It’s also the challenge of Paul Martindale, 60, Aptiv’s global technical marketing manager. Martindale, who joined Delphi as an engineer in 1981 when it was still known as Delco, has been lifting the curtains on Aptiv’s “automated driving satellite compute platform” to show automakers what’s possible for future-generation autos. The scalable platform is designed to process vehicle intelligence through multiple electronic control units, and it is adaptable for use in basic autonomous systems up to Level 4 autonomous vehicles.
Aptiv’s engineering achievement has been to make the hardware smaller, lighter, more cost efficient and easier to package in a vehicle.
