U.S. vice president of sales operations,
Sometimes, auto sales don't have to be about streaks or percentage increases. They can be about providing salespeople with unique, forward-looking tools to help them succeed.
That's what Kurt McNeil, General Motors' 55-year-old U.S. vice president of sales operations, and his team have done.
GM's newest offerings to dealers include Excellence Executive Dashboard, a real-time brand standard monitoring system, and OnTrac, a program to help dealers get the most from their service loaner fleets.
The tools provide dealers the kinds of insights into their business operations that are typically the domain of dealership management system providers and other third-party vendors.
While dealers have been wary of automakers being overly involved in their businesses, GM believes it has the wherewithal to provide better, less expensive tools than many third-party vendors to increase dealer profitability — either directly, or by virtue of its bargaining power on behalf of its thousands of U.S. retailers.
