General Manager Keith Fradenburg on showing employees they are valued
"We focus on providing recognition for performance and personal milestones for all employees. Birthdays and work anniversaries are important, and we enjoy celebrating these events by decorating employee areas with balloons, baking cakes or other homemade treats and providing handwritten cards. We also plan fun team-building events or special outings for exceptional performance. Employees from all departments are acknowledged and shown well-deserved appreciation. Recently, we set up a bowling challenge and some friendly competition for our sales and service departments. The president of Niello Co. also treated our management team to a delicious dinner at an esteemed local steakhouse, and our sales staff enjoyed a night on the town in a limo bus for exceptional performance. Every month, our top performers in sales receive a special desk award to display as well as their name on the salesperson of the month plaque, which is displayed in the showroom."
Fradenburg on keeping employees engaged
"We keep employees engaged by keeping them informed. Employees receive monthly, quarterly and annual reviews, ensuring they understand how they are doing and how they are contributing to the success of the dealership. We also hold quarterly all-store meetings where employees receive updates on the dealership, information pertaining to financial metrics and recognition for those individuals demonstrating success in customer satisfaction and/or performance. We also play fun games or have team challenges. It is a nice break from the workday. Employees also receive a weekly newsletter."
Fradenburg on work schedules
"Employees have flexible work schedules and are encouraged to approach their managers for the time off that they need. We always make a concerted effort to accommodate the needs of employees and to schedule around important family/personal events. Our sales staff has a 40-hour workweek, with two days off and at least one weekend off per month. Managers also have rotating schedules, which allows for some weekends off. Additionally, we incorporate shorter workdays on holidays and weekends to make sure our employees can enjoy quality time with their friends and families."
