Elena Ford, 44
Director, Gobal Marketing, Sales and Service Operations, Ford Motor Co.
Why did you want to work in the auto industry? Since a very early age I was always interested in cars. Once I left school and worked in New York, I just really wanted to work for Ford.
The experience I had to bring was from Wells Rich Greene in New York, the advertising agency that I worked for when I was going to school.
First automotive job: I started Sept. 11, 1995, at Ford Division. I was the truck advertising coordinator.
Proudest professional achievement: My proudest achievement was when I was asked to work at Ford Credit. I was asked to do Ford Credit's global brand and marketing so as to understand the Ford Credit business. I was honored to build a relationship from a marketing standpoint with Ford Europe and Ford Asia and tying everything back to the Ford Motor Co.
Current challenge at work: Continuously embarking people on a journey of One Ford and making them realize that when we all work together we can get a lot of synergies, not just in marketing but in communications, education, training and digital.
When we work together, we work better and smarter than if, for example, Ford Asia does their thing, Ford Europe does their thing, and America does their thing.
Dream job: I really am in my dream job right now. This is an incredibly challenging and an incredibly rewarding position. Working across the globe and working for Jim Farley is the best I could ask for right now.
What you do to relax: When I'm not working, I'm spending time with my kids, my friends and playing golf.
