Pat Moran, 55
President and CEO, JM Family Enterprises
First automotive job: As a clerk with JM Family Enterprises Inc./Southeast Toyota Distributors Inc., 1983
Proudest achievement: "The first time that I was asked to sign the distributorship agreement with Toyota meant that I had gained respect as a woman in the automotive industry. It was a very big moment in my life."
On being successful: "For me, success means never being satisfied. You have to always move forward and be a visionary."
On being a woman in the industry: "It's been a rough road, and there have been unique challenges. I believe that working together, men and women lend balance to an organization. I'm not a believer of 'act like a man to get ahead.' I have a female side, and I'm not afraid to show it. I've shared tears along with triumphs with my male co-workers. I think that to be successful, a company needs to have both men and women at the top. I'm starting a program within our company that will help further our key women to build their careers."
