What Ford van 'tariff engineering' case could mean for trade war

A federal court case involves Ford importing passenger vans, then removing a row of seats and selling the vehicles as cargo vans. As a result, the automaker paid a 2.5 percent import duty on the vans because they were classified as passenger vehicles, rather than the 25 percent tariff on light trucks.
