Calling all music-loving Audi enthusiasts with a hefty income and a Costco membership.
You may want to check out Costco Item No. 100476445, a Bosendorfer grand piano designed by Audi for its 100th anniversary in 2009. But act fast. The warehouse club's website states that only one such piano is available at the low, low price of $249,999.99.
The price includes white-glove delivery of the Austrian-made piano, which the listing describes as representing Audi's "dedication to stunning design."
According to a 2009 Audi press release, the Bosendorfer Audi Design Grand Piano was an exercise in applying the German luxury brand's styling philosophy to the functional needs of a musical instrument. "The project was a useful source of experience for our young designers, and will benefit them later when they work on car design," said Wolfgang Egger, then Audi's design chief.
At the time, Audi said the piano would sell for €100,000, which was about $140,000. The Costco price today represents a residual value that any automotive designer would envy.
