Nikola Corp. CEO Steve Girsky said Wednesday that the company remains on track to deliver its fuel cell trucks this month, despite problems with the company's separate battery-electric vehicles.
He provided the update during a stilted, pre-recorded "fireside chat and Q&A session" meant to soothe investors after an August recall impacted all 209 Tre battery-electric vehicles on the road. The Tre BEV has been marked by several vehicle fires, one of which involved a battery pack with a coolant leak.
"It's a setback, but we're in it for the long haul," Girsky said of the recall.
The company plans to deliver its hydrogen-powered vehicles starting at the end of the month, Girsky said, and "the battery-electric truck recall does not affect the production or deliveries of the fuel cell electric vehicle."
