A Ford Motor Co. vehicle has topped the annual Made in America Auto Index for the third consecutive year.
The Lincoln Corsair, a crossover with a U.S. content score of 86, came in at No. 1 on the list released in December by American University's Kogod School of Business. The Corsair, available as a plug-in hybrid or fully gasoline-powered vehicle, is made from 72 percent U.S. and Canadian content, up from 25 percent before its midcycle freshening.
The top-ranked vehicle in 2021, the Ford Mustang with a manual transmission, in 2022 had 70 vehicles scoring above it because it now has a transmission made in Mexico. The Ford Ranger topped the list in 2020.
