Researchers have found that an air-filtration kit developed by Ford Motor Co. and Lasko is an effective, low-cost way to reduce the risk of contracting COVID-19. Ford has donated nearly 20,000 of the Scrappy Filtration kits — consisting of a standard 20-inch box fan, a filter and an easy-to-assemble cardboard base — to organizations in underserved communities, including school districts in Los Angeles, New York and the Detroit area. The scientific journal Physics of Fluids last week published a peer-reviewed study validating the science behind the kits.
