Tuxpan, a small port on the Gulf of Mexico originally envisioned for container business, is becoming an auto relief valve for the crowded Port of Veracruz.
SSA Marine recently built a small vehicle processing facility and paved land there in return for rights to operate the terminal. Bill Kerrigan, SSA's auto logistics chief, estimated the upgraded terminal will handle 70,000 to 80,000 vehicles this year.
