Lamborghini Broward in Davie, Fla., owned by Warren Henry Auto Group, and Honolulu Volkswagen, a Hawaii store that's part of Lithia Motors Inc., are oceans apart in distance, brand and customers, but they share one compelling accomplishment.
Neither store had any employee turnover in 2017.
The stores encourage their employees to take time away from work by offering generous and flexible paid time off, and their compensation structures are designed to work with the realities of the retail market.
Making employees feel appreciated is important, too.
So when a job referral by a Lamborghini Broward employee results in a new hire who stays on the job at least six months, the referring employee pockets $500 in cash.
Honolulu Volkswagen doles out $50 gift cards to employees on their birthdays and offers 18 paid federal and state holidays to most staffers.
Such employee-pleasing policies help these dealerships attract talented individuals and keep them, said Larry Zinn, general manager of Lamborghini Broward, and Angela Deocampo, general manager of Honolulu Volkswagen.
