"Our mission statement says, 'Employees as Family.' We make sure that happens and creates a happier workplace. We may have cash pulls for the sales team or charter a private jet to a Nashville Predators game. We will try to do what we can to make sure Friendship is the best in all aspects."
Dustin Walters on helping employees develop a career path:
"When we have a new product specialist, they have to spend quality time in each department to learn everything. That gives them a complete understanding of how Friendship operates as a whole. Many of our management team were promoted from within, which helps other team members understand it is possible to achieve new things and new positions. We like to make sure everything is communicated properly and all goals are clear."
Dustin Walters on making work schedules more balanced or flexible:
"Having the right people in the right place usually makes scheduling easier, but we know spending time with family is a must. Quality has to be high inside and outside, so we reduce stress on family time by not giving your normal long-every-day schedules. As a reward for being a consistent top performer, you can write your own schedule or earn a Saturday off a month."
Dustin Walters on compensation:
"We think variety is the spice of life, especially when it is beneficial to everyone. We evolved from a flat-rate pay system to a hybrid of both commission and flat with a draw system built in. This has helped tremendously since there has been such a high shift in F&I profitability. Employees are compensated for front-end gross and finance gross. It is a huge motivator for the sales team."
