President Doug Jones on changes to recruitment:
"We recruit through recruiting websites. We also are partnered and associated with many organizations, and when we are looking to hire, we will put the word out to those organizations. We have hired many employees that were referred to us."
Jones on rewarding employees and showing them they are valued:
"We award our top salespeople with a four-day, all-expenses-paid trip to Mexico. They can bring a guest with them. We also have a trip for our fixed operations employees for top performers."
Jones on helping employees develop a career path:
"Our organization has different levels of training, such as a 'high potential' class, which is for employees to move into a management position. We also have the Faulkner Academy, which is for managers that want to be considered for a general manager's position. We also have a class called Management 101 for employees that may be considering a supervisory position. All the classes last for one year."
Jones on making work schedules more balanced or flexible:
"When possible, we will accommodate an employee's hours to fit their personal schedule. The way we look at it is, if the employee can get their required hours and can perform their job, we will adjust the hours for that employee. We also do not have bell-to-bell hours at our store."
Jones on compensation:
"I think the best thing about our pay plans is that we are creative on how we structure them. We have many incentives for each job title that go above and beyond the salary or hourly wage that each job has. I'm proud of the fact that we pay a higher wage than most automobile dealerships in our area, but we also pay extra incentives for a job well done, such as good customer service and job performance."
