Kemna on rewarding employees and showing them they are valued:
"We give special luncheons when they become full team members at 90 days and then when they hit other periodic years of service. At the annual Christmas party, employees are given pins, watches, rings and diamonds that correspond with their years with our company. Long-term employees receive special vacations at 25 years, which include cruises, trips to Disney or other personalized vacations to a place that is dear to them."
Kemna on helping employees develop a career path:
"We continually train them at their positions, and we always look internally first before we hire someone. Everyone has a chance to move up in our company."
Kemna on making work schedules more balanced or flexible:
"We have many employees with young children, and we are extremely flexible to meet situations in which parents need to be parents. Also, our days off are situated around the weekends so employees can plan long weekends every other week."
Kemna on compensation:
"We strive to reward for performance. We will individualize plans to meet employee expectations for time worked and talents they bring to the team. We don't do cookie-cutter plans."
