Bitcoin Rodney was spotted getting lunch at The Dons' Wood-Fired Pizza in Sterling, Va., last month. Parked outside was a customized Corvette he purchased from Ourisman Chevrolet of Bowie, in Maryland, for more than $125,000. Splashed across the sports car's body was his company's logo and web address.
Bitcoin Rodney is actually Rodney Burton, 49, who did five years in prison for drug dealing and became a successful businessman after his release in 2010. Burton provides online marketing, coaching and training services to help businesses attract customers and investors through social media.
His big breakthrough came by mastering how to invest in bitcoin and coaching others how to take advantage of the cryptocurrency.
Burton used bitcoin to buy a $350,000 2017 Lamborghini Huracan from Lamborghini Newport Beach in Costa Mesa, Calif. The dealership simply sent him a bitcoin invoice; he filled in the details, and with one click, the money was transferred from his account. Burton said he also used bitcoin to pay off his Corvette.
