Finance and insurance vendors seeking to expand their business can approach dealers, automakers and captive finance companies. Where to check first, vendor executives say, can vary depending on the business model or product.
When Roadster ventured into digital retailing as a startup, for example, the company focused on communicating with dealerships and dealership groups first, CEO Andy Moss told Automotive News.
"We purposefully have partnered with some of the best and most progressive dealers that a lot of other folks in the industry look up to. ... It's also had the effect of really opening doors for us at the OEM level," Moss said.
