The increase in annual sales of adhesives and sealants by 2024 as automakers evolve away from traditional metal welding and fastening methods, according to a Frost & Sullivan forecast. The research firm predicts sales of $12.2 billion for the segment in 2024, up from about $9 billion last year. The growth will occur as manufacturers develop vehicles and parts systems that rely on the bonding of dissimilar materials, such as steel, aluminum, magnesium, carbon fiber and other composites.
Number to watch: $3.2 billion
