Lexus will offer sleek digital cameras instead of mirrors on the redesigned ES that goes on sale in October in Japan. The slim winglets transmit images onto 5-inch monitors in the cabin at the base of the front pillars. Toyota says the change improves safety and visibility and will reduce wind noise thanks to better aerodynamics. Introduction to other markets, including the U.S., will depend on local regulations.
