AutoNation also announced the acquisition of Shelly BMW in Southern California, which has annual revenue of about $140 million and retail sales of about 2,600 new and used vehicles. With the acquisition, AutoNation owns 17 BMW stores across the country.
The dealership group also signed an agreement to acquire its 81st collision and repair center: Trade Secret Auto Care, a collision center in the Dallas market.
AutoNation has also expanded its relationship with Waymo beyond maintenance and repairs of Waymo's self-driving fleet. Now AutoNation will offer its Phoenix customers Waymo vehicles rather than traditional loaners while their vehicles are being serviced at AutoNation stores.
AutoNation, of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., ranks No. 1 on Automotive News' list of the top 150 dealership groups based in the U.S., with retail sales of 329,116 new vehicles in 2017.
