DETROIT — Automotive News has hired a reporter to cover automotive retail.
Melissa Burden, 40, will cover dealership groups, including public retailers Penske Automotive Group and Sonic Automotive Inc., dealership mergers and acquisitions and other retail topics.
Burden, who has more than 17 years of experience as a reporter, most recently worked as a freelance journalist. She spent seven years with The Detroit News, including more than five years on the autos team, primarily covering General Motors. She also worked as a business reporter for The Flint Journal in Flint, Mich., and The Times Herald in Port Huron, Mich.
Burden is a native of Traverse City, Mich. She has a bachelor's degree in journalism from Michigan State University.
