Car-leasing app Honcker will let dealers and customers view competitive monthly payment data through its platform starting in the coming weeks.
Honcker executives say the data will give its dealership clients an edge, but dealers are mixed about the effectiveness of sharing such information.
The data, now presented only to Honcker's lease customers, compiles real-time, local lease pricing information based on customers' point-of-sale data. Dealerships can use the information to compare their pricing with that of other stores in their market.
Dealers may have anecdotal information about competitors' pricing, Honcker CEO Nathan Hecht said, but finding out how much other dealerships are charging customers could give Honcker-partnered stores a leg up.
"We are the only company in automotive that has real-time at the point-of-sale data on almost every make, model and trend," Hecht told Automotive News. "It's public information. It's readily available data that we have organized in a way that's actually useful."
