TO THE EDITOR:
Thank you to Keith Crain for his great column on autonomous cars (“Why automakers should use proving grounds to test unproven technology,” autonews.com, March 20).
We will distribute it to people on Capitol Hill. We are still struggling to make serious improvements to the AV START Act pending in the Senate. The House bill is already passed. Maybe the reality of this pedestrian death will open some eyes to the need to seriously oversee these new, radical vehicles.
Crain is a visionary, and he knows the automotive industry so well. The companies should listen to and follow his advice.
