Toyota Motor North America will arrange for all eighth-grade students in the Detroit Public Schools Community District to visit the Michigan Science Center for free.
Through a partnership connecting the three institutions, students will join the M-STEP prep program, which features field trips to the Michigan Science Center that are designed to help students internalize concepts learned in class. The center uses interactive presentations and demonstrations in physical, Earth and life sciences to help students retain key science concepts.
"Toyota is committed to playing a role in building the future STEM [science, technology, engineering and mathematics] work force. Exposing children to engaging programs like the M-STEP Prep Field Trip supports the concepts they are learning in school and shows them new and exciting possibilities," said Jeff Makarewicz, group vice president of TMNA Research and Development.
