Anyone who had even the smallest hope for the future of the diesel engine might as well forget it.
After all the horrible problems resulting from Volkswagen's cheating on diesel emission testing, there are now more aftershocks.
It's been reported that in 2014, before the VW scandal was unearthed, the company conducted tests in which monkeys were exposed to toxic diesel fumes. The tests were intended to gauge the impact of the fumes on the animals. Needless to say, there has been an uproar in Germany — especially after a report by a German newspaper that VW, Daimler and BMW exposed humans as well as monkeys to diesel exhaust fumes for testing purposes.
