ADESA opened its latest site, ADESA Chicago, on Oct. 28.
John Hammer, who once led KAR Auction Services Inc.'s auto finance unit, is returning to the company as president of its ADESA unit. He will replace Stephane St-Hilaire, the company said Thursday.
St-Hilaire resigned voluntarily this week, a spokeswoman said. He has led ADESA since early 2014.
Hammer previously was CEO of KAR's Automotive Finance Corp. business before leaving the company in 2016. He will officially rejoin the company effective Feb. 26. St-Hilaire, who joined ADESA Canada in 1999 as CFO, has agreed to stay on until the end of February to assist the transition.
"John has a 25-year track record of delivering successful results. He knows our industry, he knows our company and above all, he knows our culture," KAR CEO Jim Hallett said in a statement.
Hammer will oversee all ADESA operations, including the company's 75 auction locations across the U.S., Canada and Mexico, reporting directly to Hallett.
After leaving KAR, Hammer served as CEO of U.S. Auto Sales Inc., a used-car dealership group in Lawrenceville, Ga.
