BorgWarner Inc. promoted Frederic Lissalde to executive vice president and COO.
Lissalde, 50, assumes the new role effective Jan. 1. The COO position has been unfilled since James Verrier was promoted from the post to CEO in 2013. Lissalde will report directly to Verrier.
Lissalde most recently served as president and general manager of Auburn Hills, Mich.-based BorgWarner's turbo systems business.
He previously served as vice president and general manager of the supplier's transmissions systems division and vice president of global sales and marketing of BorgWarner's drivetrain system unit.
Lissalde also served as managing director of several drivetrain operations at the company's European operations.
Prior to joining BorgWarner in 2000, he served in various management roles at French auto supplier Valeo SA.
Lissalde earned master's degrees from HEC Paris and Ecole Nationale Superieure des Arts et Metier, both in Paris. He's also completed executive education programs at Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
