Mercedes-Benz Financial Services said it will shift business operations into a new facility at its AllianceTexas operation in Fort Worth.
Construction will begin next year on the 200,000-square-foot center, which is expected to be operational sometime in 2019, the financier said in a statement on Wednesday.
The company's current business center includes credit operations, collections, customer service and remarketing positions, said Janet Marzett, vice president of operations in the Americas for Mercedes-Benz Financial Services.
Marzett wrote in an email to Automotive News that there are no plans to relocate jobs from the company's headquarters near Detroit, in Farmington Hills, Mich.
"We are out of space at our current location and with our lease ending, this build-to-suit project was the best option to meet our needs," Marzett said. "It also allows us to enhance the employee experience with minimal disruption while adopting a more contemporary, technologically advanced facility that is reflective of our brand."
Moving less than a mile from the current center will allow the company to retain about 900 "direct and indirect" jobs in the Fort Worth area, the company said in a statement.
"The only way to sustain our current success is through continuous improvement," CEO Peter Zieringer said in the statement. "This project and a new, state-of-the-art operations center, will enable us to reshape the way we work, so that our environment matches the activities we do every day."
