In the course of unveiling Nissan's next wave of electrified vehicles at the Tokyo Motor Show last week, global sales boss Daniele Schillaci also declared that the company will enter Formula E racing in 2018.

The race series of electric vehicles — a competition that is remarkable for the absence of thundering engines — spans 11 cities on five continents over seven months.
Nissan will enter for Season 5. Season 4 runs through July 29, 2018.
Formally known as the FIA Formula E Championship, the circuit includes Audi, Jaguar, Renault, Mahindra, Penske Autosport and others. This year, BMW also said it would join the race starting in Season 5.
