It turns out that in his new job at Infiniti, Christian Meunier will be doing more than just handling global sales.
Meunier, Nissan's former head of U.S. sales and marketing, suddenly moved this month to Infiniti to lead worldwide sales and marketing. But company sources say he will have expanded duties while Infiniti President Roland Krueger is dealing with a health issue.
Indeed, there had been talk that Krueger was on leave from Infiniti while battling an illness. Infiniti declined to comment on Krueger's health and issued a statement confirming only that the Hong Kong-based executive is on personal leave, adding that "we expect him to return in due course."
Krueger, 52, is an avid runner and a member of The Explorers Club who once spent 50 days skiing across the South Pole in subzero weather, pulling a sled.
