TO THE EDITOR:
As a dealer for over 40 years, I’ve missed very few of Keith Crain’s columns. I’m hopeful that many readers will read his Oct. 2 column two or three times. The context of the headline, “It never is their fault,” is extremely important.
When the manufacturer seeks to solve their market challenges almost exclusively by demanding major and significant adjustments to retailer policies and procedures, then disappointing results truly are “never the fault of the dealer.”
I am grateful for Crain’s observations and would hope that the leaders and staff at the National Automobile Dealers Association could find their voice on subjects that impact the future of the franchise system.
