Just because a color sells well, it doesn't mean it's going to be offered indefinitely.
That was the experience Subaru had with orange and the first-generation Crosstrek.
"We took away the orange a couple years in and we got a lot of people that told us that they really wanted us to bring orange back," said Todd Hill, Subaru's car line manager, noting that in the beginning the automaker sold more orange Crosstreks than black ones.
Subaru listened to its customers. Orange is back for the second-generation Crosstrek in the form of "Sunshine Orange," a brighter shade than what was previously offered.
Another new color for the 2018 model is "Cool Gray Khaki," a shade that looks more blue than gray, depending on the light.
"Hopefully we'll have some more fun colors in the future," added Hill.
