A veteran banking executive has been tapped to fill a newly created chief digital officer role, along with a second position as senior vice president of marketing, for Volkswagen Group's captive lending units in the U.S. and Canada.
Charles Moore, 54, will join VW Credit Inc. on July 5, the company said. VW Credit is the captive finance arm for Volkswagen Group in the U.S. Moore will hold the same post with VW Credit Canada, the lender's Canadian affiliate.
Moore has been in financial services for more than 25 years, most recently serving seven years as senior vice president and head of digital marketing at U.S. Bank. He previously worked in a number of executive and senior management positions at Barclays Bank, Citigroup, American Express and Toyota Financial Services, specializing in marketing, product development and digital, the company said.
VW Credit, which serves as the captive finance arm for the Volkswagen and Audi brands, as well as for the Ducati motorcycle brand, created the chief digital officer position "to further promote our business strategy of competing on service and help support achieving our vision of becoming 'the key to mobility,'" Horst Meima, CEO of VW Credit, said in a statement. "Chuck's extensive experience in the financial services industry will help to create a digital experience that enhances the customer financing process and the overall ease of business for our dealers."
